quarantine day nine

3/23/2020

Quarantine day nine. Being in small spaces with anyone is stressful, but with family doesn’t help. I don’t know anyone who has coronavirus yet, but I also don’t know anyone who got tested, so that doesn’t mean much. I hope nobody I know gets seriously affected by it. Two weeks ago if I had told myself this was going to happen, I would laugh. I still cannot totally process it. It feels as though things like this should not happen. It feels dystopian and wrong--it’s scary.

Quarantine is tough on all of us, being away from friends, acquaintances, and even school can be very hard. This was an unprecedented situation that nobody is prepared for. I would recommend video calling with friends you miss, and doing calm activities such as reading and cooking. These small activities can focus your mind, as opposed to staying bored all day. I hope you find this helpful, and I hope that quarantine gets better for you!!

Hey! I know it seems difficult especially since this is a new experience for all of us. Try taking time to yourself, and let your family know if they are putting too much stress on you from everything that's going on. If you have any serious concerns, you can always access free and confidential mental health professionals at 1-888-NYC-WELL (1-888-692-9355). It may be intimidating, but it's always there as an option for these concerning times. Stay safe!
